- 100 days. This historical variety grows about 15-20 lb teardrop shaped squashes, sometimes bulking up and weighing more. The flesh is fiberless and custard like with a wonderful sweet, creamy flavor. Very adaptable on the farm and in the kitchen. Large seed cavity with bulk seeds that are great for roasting. Most likely originating from South America, the first written history was when it was introduced to gardeners in 1831 by Mr. J. M. Ives.
